Welcome to Clowne Parish Council

 

Clowne is a market town in the North East of Derbyshire, located to the North East of Chesterfield and South East of Sheffield.

 

In recent years new large stores have appeared in the town, providing access to supermarket shopping a short walk from the original town centre shopping area. Other recent developments include the new Clowne Campus of Chesterfield College, a multi-million pound development providing higher education in a range of academic and vocational subjects as well as access to sporting and other facilities to local residents.

 

Clowne's documented history goes back over a thousand years and is mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086.
